Taking a Break
After a summer of blogging, cooking, serving, filming, and writing about food I am taking the weekend off for my other passion – football. My duties at the Italian restaurant had me missing the 45 – 0 pasting that #2 LSU gave Mississippi State, however I did catch the replay on ESPN. LSU’s defence looks fierce. Their offense is very talented but I feel their offensive line (especially the right side) is a little suspect. It may comback to haunt them as they face serious teams (like next week’s oponent Virginia Tech).
Tonight I am taking my nephew, Billy, to his first high school football game. The site is E S Grider field in Semmes, AL. It is the same field where Billy’s great-great-grandfather (my grandfather) and great-grandfather (my dad) watched Billy’s grandfather (my brother) and uncle (me) play football. Tonight Billy will hear me do my best imitation of my grandfather (Pop) when I bellow out in a Southern baratone, “Go Big Bluuuuuuue!”
Tomorrow I wake up to ESPN’s Gameday and watch games until about 1PM. Then I will shower and head back to Semmes to spend the late afternoon watching games with my folks until the Auburn Tigers take the field to defend the honor of all that is good and right about America. Anyone who has ever seen an East Alabama sunset understands why the Tigers wear the Orange and Blue.
