GIADA DE LAURENTIIS INVITES FOOD NETWORK VIEWERS “HOME”
New Daytime Series “Giada at Home” Premieres October 18th at 1PM ET/PT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – This fall, Giada De Laurentiis expands beyond her Italian cooking repertoire in the new daytime series Giada at Home premiering Saturday, October 18th at 1PM ET/PT. A stylish lifestyle and cooking series, Giada at Home follows Giada as she plans and prepares meals for family and friends. The series showcases Giada’s other culinary specialties, as she finds inspiration from local influences and Southern Californian ingredients.
“Giada has a huge fan base that has learned to cook accessible Italian dishes, but she has so much more to teach our viewers” said Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production for Food Network. “Giada at Home will showcase food that speaks to her other culinary interests and also her creativity; she has tons of fantastic lifestyle and entertaining ideas.”
In Giada at Home, Giada gets out from behind the kitchen counter, taking viewers along as she plans and prepares meals that are fresh, simple and elegant. Whether planning a picnic in the park, a family holiday dinner, a block party, California BBQ, cocktail party, spa day or a lobster bake on the beach, Giada offers tips for easy preparation, packing food for travel or clever ways to decorate for a specific event. Giada also showcases her love of flavors, beyond her usual Italian ingredients. Recipes like Spring Rolls with Cucumber-Yogurt Dip, Parisian Steak & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches, and Mini Pineapple Cakes grace the menu. And, she even serves a little sushi!
Growing up in a large Italian family, Giada’s passion for food began as a child as she learned to prepare family recipes for their frequent gatherings. She became a professional chef after attending the famed Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Paris. After working in a variety of Los Angles restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, Giada later founded GDL Foods, a catering company in Los Angeles. She joined Food Network in 2003 and hosted several shows, most notably Everyday Italian. Giada’s overall success yielded her a new role as spokesperson for Barilla pasta, as well as a recurring role as a contributing correspondent on the Today Show. Giada is also the author of four successful cookbooks: “Everyday Italian” (Clarkson Potter, 2005), “Giada’s Family Dinners” (Clarkson Potter, 2006), “Everyday Pasta” (Clarkson, 2007) and in October she will release her fourth book, “Giada’s Kitchen: New Italian Favorites” (Clarkson, 2008).
