TV Cooks on the Morning News

October 13, 2008 at 8:40 am

Apparently there is some sort of unwritten rule amongst the TV morning shows: Colombus Day = Cooking Segment.

NBC’s Today Show featured another installment of their regular “Today’s Kitchen.”  They also had on members of the cast of The Secret Life of Bees, Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Hudson, a story that revolves around life in a Southern kitchen in the 1960’s.

ABC’s Good Morning America was visited by the queen of “pretend” cooking, Sandra Lee.  She was on hocking her newest “Semi-Homemade” book.  The most memorable part was while explaining to host Robin Roberts about how to make boneless skinless chicken breast from an ordinary chicken she looked at Roberts and said, “You have a nice breast.”  Apparently the other one, not so much.  JK, of course she was referring to the chicken, but it was really funny.  For those that are familiar with Sandra’s style, her outfit matched the autumn decorations on the set.

The Early Show on CBS was blessed when Lidia Bastianich stopped by to prepare a menu of fall favorites including a meatless pasta dish that featured a little winter squash, something rarely seen in a traditional Italian kitchen.
